Revised Breakfast arrangements:

The RSL NSW Act was proclaimed on 31st December 2018 in the NSW Parliament and, under our RSL NSW charity status for the Anzac Day Dawn Service, our Forestville RSL sub-Branch can now only provide free breakfast to past and current Service members with their medals.

The cost for members of the public is $10 per person, adult or child. These details have been on display since February this year in the Club, and in the Club’s social media activities, in order to ensure members of the public are aware of this change. We have also been including these details in our sub-Branch newsletters from March this year.

 

 

 

 

REMEMBRANCE DAY SERVICES … 2018

1030 … Remembrance Day Service

The Forestville RSL sub-Branch invite you to attend a traditional Remembrance Day service commencing at 1030 at the Cenotaph.

Refreshments will be served in the Club after the Service

 

 

1645 … Centenary of the Armistice Tribute

Pipers and drummers around the World are taking part in a simple, once in a lifetime, poignant tribute that involves playing “The Battle’s O’ er”.  In Australia 1700 AEDT on 11th November has been chosen as the time for this to take place.

Having recently returned from performing at the 2018 Edinburgh Tattoo, the Manly Warringah Pipe Band has accepted Forestville RSL sub-Branch’s invitation to join us as part of this global ceremony.

All are welcome to attend.  We ask you to be in place at the Cenotaph at Forestville RSL Club by 1645.

Refreshments will be served in the Club afterwards

 

 

CENTRAL COAST TRIP

Thursday, 25th October 2018

 

This function is only for members of the RSL sub-Branch, RSL Auxiliary & their partners & Service Widows

We will travel north to the beautiful Mt Penang Gardens at Kariong, a contemporary Australian garden showcasing both wet and dry climate gardens.  Devonshire Morning Tea on arrival in the Waterfall Cafe overlooking the garden with magnificent water cascades.  Then to the Chocolate and Nougat Shop before we travel to the Central Coast Leagues Club for a scrumptious buffet lunch.  After lunch we visit the Gosford Classic Car Museum (the largest in the Southern Hemisphere) which is home to exotic and rare vehicles in pristine condition and born out of passion for the artistry of automobiles.  Then we travel back to Forestville.

DEPARTURE:  from the lower carpark 8am returning around 4.30pm (please park in the lower car park as we will be on tour all day).

COST:  subsidised cost for sub-Branch members is $40 per person

INCLUDES: Five Star luxury air conditioned coach travel, full commentary by an experienced guide, morning tea, buffet lunch and Museum entry.

TICKETS:  on a cash-only basis will be on sale on Monday 10th September from the sub-Branch office, afterwards from Club Reception on a first-come first-served basis.

 

 

VP DAY LUNCHEON

Sunday 12th August, 2018

This function is only for members of the RSL sub-Branch, RSL Auxiliary & their partners & Service Widows

The luncheon will commence at 12 noon, with the doors opening at 11.30.

TICKETS: will remain on sale until Monday 6th August, unless sold earlier, from the Reception desk of the Club.

COST: $40 per person (cash only please)

TRANSPORT: pickups will be available from 10.30am, returns completed by 3.30pm, with bookings for the bus being made personally at the Reception desk of the Club or by phoning the Reception desk on 9451 1011.

DRESS:  SMART CASUAL with a Hawaiin theme.

MENU: A two course meal, ”Main and Dessert” will be served with alternates on each course with refreshments and lucky door prizes.

 

UNVEILING OF COMMEMORATIVE BENCHES

The Hon. Tony Abbott MP to unveil two commemorative benches to commemorate the Centenary of Armistice Day.

 

Wednesday, 4th July 2018 – 3.45pm

The sub-Branch is holding a special service on Wednesday 4th July where the Hon. Tony Abbott MP will be the principal speaker at the unveiling of two Commemorative Benches which commemorate the Centenary of Armistace Day on 11th November, 2018.  This date has been chosen as it is the centenary of the Battle of Hamel which took place on 4th July, 1918 and was strategically crucial in the closing stages of World War 1 under the innovative leadership of Sir John Monash.

The President and Committee of Forestville sub-Branch cordially invite you to attend the service.  Those attending should arrive by 3.45pm, the service will commence at 4.00pm and conclude around 4.30pm, following which refreshments will be served in the Club.  Medals are to be worn.

WINTER YULEFEST DAY TRIP

Tuesday, 3rd July 2018

Located right on the water’s edge at scenic Berowra Waters, the Waterview Restaurant is perfectly located for a Winter Yulefest Lunch.  Following a sumptious 3 x course Christmas meal that includes soft drinks and red and white wines there will be entertainment by the fabulous Roland Storm.

Departure from the lower car park will be at 10.30am with return scheduled for 4.15pm.  Subsidised cost for sub-Branch members is $40 per person.  Tickets available on a cash-only basis on sale from Monday 7th May from the sub-Branch office then after from Club Reception (on a first come first served basis).
